Prenatal yoga is a wonderful way to stay connected to the body during pregnancy. Prenatal yoga at Yoga Spirit Studios is more than a fitness class. It is a holistic preparation for birth and beyond, with stretches, breathing techniques and meditative practices that our ladies report back really help them when the big moment comes.
Having babies is a pretty amazing time in anyone’s life. When pregnant, women who have been practising yoga will find that they need to modify their practice. It is also a time when women often look to yoga to replace some other activities and to keep fit and strong. After baby is born there is a need to reconnect with the body and build the core again, but with the added complication of having to juggle everything around the baby.
Your needs during pregnancy are very different to the general population and our highly trained specialty teachers know exactly how to take care of you. Sallie Davison and Vanessa Krivickas are our regular prenatal teachers and have done many hours of additional training to be experts in this field.
Pregnancy yoga is run on a pricing structure that commences at $20 per class, but reduces with the purchase of 5 or 10 class passes. These passes are transferrable to ongoing classes after baby's arrival (we consider giving birth a perfect reason to extend your pass expiry date).
Yoga Spirit Studios offers classes for women in the second and third trimester of pregnancy at our lovely studio in Torrensville. It becomes more than a yoga class as everyone bonds and supports each other, and are keen to hear the results at the end. Our prenatal teachers are wonderful, creative and empathetic, with excellent training in this specialty of yoga.
We recommend that you start attending your prenatal yoga classes after reaching your 12th week.
Classes are on Saturdays 9.15 to 10.45am. (Apologies but our Wednesday 6pm class is currently not running.)

After your six week check up you can catch up with some friends from prenatal and meet each other’s babies at Mums and Bubs. This class has a very relaxed atmosphere and attitude – baby’s moods and foibles are all accommodated with great joy and humour. When baby is playing happily you will get to do some much needed stretching and strengthening, especially focussed on your body’s needs post pregnancy.
This class only runs when we have sufficient numbers. If numbers are high and sustained we will run the class as a regular drop in class and this means that you can use up any unused classes from prenatal in Mums and Bubs. If numbers are lower we operate the class as a six week block requiring preregistration and payment.

Once a quarter we schedule a Prenatal Yoga for Couples workshop. Tell your partner it is for the baby and get him along. No yoga experience is necessary. Couples who have attended in the past have found it to be very useful for both connecting with the changing needs of the woman’s body during pregnancy and also as a preparation for the birth itself. Partners have been pleased to discover how they can be involved and support their partner. Not restricted to male/female couples – the partner might be an interested member of family or same sex partner.
The workshop is run by Vanessa Krivickas and her husband Darren Twining. It includes afternoon tea and networking.
You will be invited to join our “Yoga Spirit Baby Bodies” Facebook group which is proving a great way for our expectant and new mums to connect.
From time to time we also schedule a “Baby Body Bolster Bliss” class and “Baby Yoga”. These will always be announced in our newsletter and on our Facebook page so be sure to get connected.
