Cleaning the mat
Can you imagine? Once upon a time we did not have a way to regularly clean the studio mats. And they were R-A-N-K! While that did encourage people to purchase their own mats, life is so much sweeter since we introduced the mat cleaning protocol.
It turns out that keeping the studio mats fresh is a community effort and it is great that everyone takes the time to spray and wipe the studio mat they borrowed before rolling and stowing it. And that mat spray really works! So we are used to getting asked, "Where do you get your mat spray?"
Here's our secret
Well we make our own mat spray and while you will have to find a way to scale this down, here is our recipe.
- 1 litre white vinegar
- 3 liters demineralised water
- 20 mls tea tree oil
Combine and put in a spray bottle.
This is a not only great as a mat cleaner but also as an air freshener, fabric freshener and light all purpose cleaner. The vinegar and tea tree oil are effective antiseptics.
The other thing to note is that we have been using this formula on our studio mats for quite a while, and the mats appear to be undamaged and quite fresh.
