After pregnancy yoga can help you get back in touch with your body, build your core strength to help you with all that baby lifting and help you de-stress and relax.
Pregnancy and child birth create immense changes in the body, and post birth you are probably wondering how it will ever be the same again. Well the truth is, in some ways it never will be, it is a post-partum body now. But that does not mean that you cannot be strong and feeling great.
Sometimes after giving birth we feel totally out of touch with our body. After all it was occupied for nine months by an alien force (baby), stretched beyond imagination, opened in ways you never imagined possible for birthing, whether that was a natural birth or surgical. And now, post birth it still seems to belong to someone else, that wondrous little person you created! It is not unusual for new Mums to experience some of the following:
Getting back to yoga can help with all of these.
We are not always able to offer specific post-natal classes like our Mums and Bubs class, but getting someone to take care of baby to give you some time to nurture yourself is also a great idea. Check out our timetable and find our when we have classes for you to attend, or give us a call and discuss your options, on 8352 7823.
After your six week check up you can catch up with some friends from prenatal and meet each other’s babies at Mums and Bubs. This class has a very relaxed atmosphere and attitude – baby’s moods and foibles are all accommodated with great joy and humour. When baby is playing happily you will get to do some much needed stretching and strengthening, especially focussed on your body’s needs post pregnancy.
This class only runs when we have sufficient numbers. If numbers are high and sustained we will run the class as a regular drop in class and this means that you can use up any unused classes from prenatal in Mums and Bubs. If numbers are lower we operate the class as a six week block requiring preregistration and payment.
Didn’t come to our Prenatal classes? That is fine too, you are still welcome in Mums and Bubs.
