Mat pilates is a way to strengthen the body, particularly the muscles of the core. It draws from dance, yoga and callisthenics. The methods developed by Joseph Pilates also include exercises using various pieces of equipment, but in mat pilates all you need is your body and a mat.
You can join this class at any time with no prior pilates of yoga expereince and you will begin very gently and progressively build your strength week by week.
Core strength is important for good posture and health. It is also fundamental to the improvement of your yoga postures. We recommend using mat pilates as an adjunct to your yoga practice and:
