Tina Shettigara and Yoga Spirit Studios are delighted to host a Level 1 Basic training to teach iRest, the first ever in South Australia.
iRest Yoga Nidra Meditation supports psychological, physical and spiritual health, healing and awakening.
When life is hard, iRest truly can help.
There are so many practices and resources available to try to address the stress and overwhelm that can overtake us when life feels like it’s ‘all too much’, but many fail to get to the root cause of the problem or bring lasting change.
iRest yoga nidra meditation is a powerful and transformative set of tools and techniques that cuts through to uncover and release us from the underlying issues that hold us back from accessing the quiet, peaceful place that exists within all of us.
Developed over 30 years by Richard Miller PhD, iRest Yoga Nidra meditation supports psychological, physical and spiritual health, healing and awakening.
iRest is an accessible meditation protocol that is integrative, as it heals unresolved issues and traumas, and restorative, as it aids practitioners in recognizing the underlying peace of mind that is always present amidst all changing circumstances in life.
Due to its effectiveness and ease of use, iRest has proven to effectively support the healing process across a broad range of populations, including those with PTSD, chronic pain, sleep issues, high stress, depression, and anxiety.
Learn more about the iRest Institute here.
This training teaches you everything you need to know to incorporate the simple 10-step iRest protocol into your personal life, professional teaching or clinical practice.

Approximately 30 hours of CPD (Continuing Professional Development) is available for members of Yoga Australia/NZ, Yoga Alliance and IAYT.
Australian Psychological Society (APS) CPD Points
For those of you who attended iRest Level 1 training and who are psychologists, the APS provides the following information regarding CPD points:
“Registered psychologists are required to complete a set number of continuing professional development (CPD) hours as a requirement of ongoing registration. There is no accreditation or approval process for CPD for psychologists, but rather individual psychologists must be able to justify selection of particular CPD according to their individual learning needs.”
Therefore, if you can justify the counting of iRest training towards your continuing professional development as a psychologist (which doesn’t seem difficult given the research about its application and effectiveness for mental health and well being), then you may claim the hours!”
– Dr Emma Spiel: the Victorian Coordinator and Deputy Convener of the National Committee for the APS Psychology and Yoga Interest Group (dated 3 July 2015)

"Thank you with all my heart! iRest Yoga Nidra training was one of the most profoundly life changing teachings I have ever experienced. From both a personal and professional point of view it rocked my world! My wish is for everyone, everywhere to have access to this work ... it is that good!"
Dr Lauren Tober, Clinical Psychologist, now Certified iRest teacher
"After 35+ years of yoga/meditation teaching it was a thrill to learn more about this beautiful and effective approach to the traditional practice of Yoga Nidra. As a teacher and therapist I am always keen to further my knowledge and skills and undertaking both level 1 and level 2 (and now currently undertaking level 3/certification) has provided a quantum leap in what I can offer students and clients. This leap however comes from more than just the 'knowledge' gained. It comes from a most remarkable deepening and enriching of my own personal meditation, which the regular practice of iRest has unfolded and which informs my work with students and clients.
iRest for me is not only something to be practiced. It is like an upgrading of the software of my life and has been instrumental in helping me to be more at home with myself at all levels of being."
Leigh Blashki, founder of the Australian Institute of Yoga Therapy, past president of Yoga Australia, now Certified iRest teacher
iRest Yoga Nidra has been developed over the past thirty years by Richard Miller, PhD, a clinical psychologist, author, researcher and yogic scholar, and is uniquely suitable for modern lives. Yoga Journal has named Richard Miller in the top 25 most influential yoga teachers worldwide.
