Celebrating 21 years of serving the Adelaide Yoga community
The following is a plan and a record of what Yoga Spirit Studios has done and is doing to maintain a safe environment for staff, students and visitors at Yoga Spirit Studios.
The studio is large enough to allow mat spaces with 1.5m between mats, edge to edge in all directions.
Stages 1 - 2: 18 Mar to 23 Mar
Cleaning of touch points after class
Spraying equipment with disinfectant
Encouraged students to bring own equipment
Hand sanitiser supplied in obvious places around studio and use encouraged
Restricted numbers in class and bookings required
This phase was moved through very rapidly and within a short time we moved to Stage 3
Stage 3 – No in person classes commenced 23 Mar
Facebook live and additional communications
Zoom set up for online classes.
Tech support for students and staff
Discount on pricing plus cheap options on honour system for people suffering financially (single class @ $5, $10 or free)
Staff allowed to do their class from home or come into studio
Yoga shop for yoga props kept open – changes around reception desk for distancing – product display as a barrier and chair placed to prevent getting too close. Markings on floor and placement of seats to maintain social distance.
Stage 1 still no indoor “fitness classes” 8 May
Preparing to open – studio floors marked out with masking tape for mat spaces, 1.5m between mats in all directions, maximum 10 per room
Masks and hand sanitiser provided for staf in reception
Stage 2 10 max per room from June 1
State Government’s COVID-safe plan completed for Stage 2 (it is not helpful)
Procedures:
No back to back classes so omni directional flow can be maintained
No loan equipment (includes teachers)
Mat spaces provided with hand sanitiser and cleaning equipment to minimise congregation points, students to clean own space after use
Minimise touch points
Doors propped open – front door when arriving, bathroom door, practice room door
Bathroom lights left on during class
Teachers spray all touch points including light switches, door handles, taps and toilet flush buttons with meths after class
Some classes in person, some online, some both
19 June – capacity lifted to 15
Government says 20 allowed in indoor fitness but social distancing must be maintained
Yoga Spirit Studios Main hall capacity lifted to 15 – number possible while allowing 1.5m between mats in all directions and access to toilets and heaters without violating the space
Capacity in Studio Room remains 9
The same protocols are still applied, and with a mixture of online and in person classes
Stage 3 – total relaxation of restrictions but social distancing still advised 29 June
27 June – updated state government COVID-safe plan received – it would allow 70 people in Main hall and 40 in Studio Room – way over any reasonable capacity for yoga practice!
Yoga Spirit Studios continues to offer 15 spaces in Main Hall and 9 in Studio Room – for benefit of all beings and our mutual safety and comfort we are still maintaining all the same protocols and mixture of online and in person classes.
Forward
Active monitoring of totality of situation and the comfort of staff and students to guide us in relaxing our protocols further.
Implementing a loan and on-site storage system for students to borrow a dedicated set of equipment, and/or bring their own, and store it for their personal use on site.
