Understanding Yoga
1. What is Yoga? Yoga is a holistic practice or dicipline that originated in ancient India. It aims to realise us our true nature of pure joy and keep us content and happy in general.
2. Benefits of Yoga: Yoga offers numerous benefits, including improved flexibility, strength, posture, balance, stress reduction, and mental clarity.
Getting Started-
Practices of a general Yoga Class includes-1) Basic Poses (Asanas) relaxed by your sides. This pose helps improve posture and awareness of body alignment.
2) Breathing Techniques (Pranayama)
3) Relaxation and Meditation After postures and breathing practices,as the body softens, so too does the mind, paving the way for a deeper state of tranquility. Students are asked to lie down on their back in Shavasana and enjoy this sense of softening of the body known as relaxation (sometimes teacher guides you for systematic relaxation). Meditation takes this tranquility further, guiding participants into a state of profound inner stillness. Whether through guided visualization, focused attention, or mantra repetition, meditation cultivates mindfulness, sharpening awareness and fostering a sense of inner peace. Together, relaxation and meditation form the heart of the yoga practice, offering practitioners a sanctuary to nurture their physical, mental, and emotional well-being. As students emerge from class, they carry with them a renewed sense of balance and harmony, ready to navigate life's challenges with grace and ease.
