Yoga benefits kids and young people in so many different ways but perhaps the most astounding and valuable is in their mental health. Perhaps you need help for your teen's anxiety, or a non-competitive physical activity to suit your young person's personality. Yoga has proven benefits in combatting anxiety and depression and nurturing resilience.
Yoga is a body positive activity for young people. Physically, yoga gives them core strength for posture and an inner sense of strength and groundedness. It encourages physical challenge while it is also non-competitive and in class situations encourages compassion towards self and others. In a world where kids are receiving messages of unrealistic body images, the right yoga class can help them value and honour our human form in all its glorious difference.
Offered during term time
Our tweens and teens gather with teacher Maureen every Monday evening during term time from 4 to 5pm. Some of our kids have been doing yoga with us since they were 5. In fact one young man said, at age 5 when he took his first class, "I am going to do this for the rest of my life" and so far he has kept that vow. It is fun and so very supportive to the young adult emerging from the child they were.
