All of our teachers are dedicated practitioners of yoga and bring to the school their own unique approach.

Tina Shettigara

Tina ShettigaraTina became the owner and Director of Yoga Spirit Studios in 2010. Tina is a Yoga teacher who has twenty years of yoga practice and many years of study of Indian religion and philosophy. She has been teaching since 2009 after graduating with the Yoga Spirit Studios Certificate of Hatha yoga Teacher Training. She has since worked with Donna Farhi, and is greatly influenced by Donna's approach.

Tina embraces the philosophy of Yoga Spirit Studios, that yoga is for every "body" and regards herself as a facilitator of learning to help students discover their own path in Yoga, to suit their own unique body, mind and spirit. Tina also teaches meditation classes that are inclusive and accessible to people learning meditation from different background.

Tina is a member of Yoga Australia and the Institute of Yoga Teachers, South Australia.

Cherise Vallet

Cherise ValletCherise has been a teacher at Yoga Spirit Studios for the past five years, having done her teacher training with Rebecca Richards in the first course run at the studio, graduating in 2004. Cherise offers her experience into this Studio based not only on her personal yoga practice and enquiry, but on many years of exploring a deeper spiritual path that led her from Canada to make Australia home over 21 years ago.

Vanessa Krivikas

VanessaVanessa began her yoga journey more than 8 years ago and completed her Certificate of Hatha Yoga Teacher Training at Yoga Spirit Studios in 2008. Vanessa values the insights yoga has brought into her life, of the synergy between our emotional, physical and spiritual existence and this flows into her teaching style. Through direct experience of practicing yoga through both pregnancies, Vanessa has also developed an interest in the pre-natal and post-natal applications of yoga and teaches Prenatal Yoga at the studio on Wednesdays. She holds membership with the Yoga Teachers Association of Australia and the South Australian Institute of Yoga Teachers.

Jo Bentley

Judy KeenJo Bentley has had a deepening call to yoga as her life path for some years which finally led her to make some courageous choices in her life propelling her into the 15 month Hatha Yoga Teacher Training Certificate offered at Yoga Spirit Studios. Jo has a wealth of life experience and a deep love of yoga that will bring joy to everyone who takes her classes.

Charlton Lane

CharltonCharlton Lane was first introduced to yoga nearly 30 years ago and has been practicing regularly for the past 7 years. A former martial arts student and a tri-athlete, Charlton noticed over time the difference that the yoga postures and stretching made to his training and recovery, the benefits to his well being have not been just physical but spiritual. He is learning the power of the breath, the importance of relaxation and mediation as a balance to a busy and hectic lifestyle.Charlton gained his Hatha Yoga Teacher Certification under the instruction of Rebecca Richards at Yoga Spirit Studios in Adelaide and is a member of the Yoga Teachers Association of Australia and the Yoga Teachers Institute of South Australia Inc. He is continuing his yoga journey by teaching others and attending further teacher training.

Maureen Germein

MaureenMaureen went to her first yoga class in her early 20’s.  Since then yoga has slowly become a firm foundation in her life, supporting her through studies, work, pregnancies, the births of her 4 children, and the ensuing chaos of a busy family.  Inspired by the powerful effects of yoga, and its capacity to be adapted for different stages of life, she has sought to deepen her understanding and practice.  In 2010 she completed the Yoga Spirit Teacher Training and is delighted to continue her learning and share her enthusiasm for yoga through teaching.

Karen Forrest

Cherise ValletKaren has been practicing yoga for over 11 years and completed her Certificate of Hatha Yoga Teaching Training at Yoga Spirit Studios in 2004.  During her teacher training she found herself in the midst of menopause and can relate to the negative physical and emotional effects that menopause may bring. Now happily post menopausal and having found that her yoga practice supported her through this stage of life, she enjoys sharing her life experiences and love of yoga with others and helping them to discover the joy of yoga. Karen is a member of the Yoga Teachers Association of Australia.

Mary Doucas

Mary

Mary Doucas teaches children’s yoga at Yoga Spirit Studios.  She is a busy mother of two beautiful kids. She discovered yoga in 2007 and quickly discovered this ancient, wise and spiritual discipline to be essential for self, health, relaxation and inner fulfilment and wanted to share its gift with others.
In 2010 Mary completed the Yoga Spirit Studios teacher training course and graduated as a qualified Level 1 teacher. She also completed the Radiant Child Yoga teacher training levels 1 to 3.
Mary is passionate about sharing the many gems of yoga to people of all ages and abilities.  Her personal aspiration is to open the heart and minds of children to their radiant true essence, unlimited inner potential and beauty, through yoga. Her classes are non-competitive, holistic and FUN! Children attending her classes learn about body awareness, flexibility, co-ordination, strength, self-control, self-expression and creativity, relaxation and peace. Kids can carry these skills beyond their mats into their daily lives, and ultimately our world and future.
Mary’s appeal to parents is “Please take a well-deserved break, because this class is KO (kids only).”
