All of our teachers are dedicated practitioners of
yoga and bring to the school their own unique approach.
Rebecca Richards
Rebecca has been teaching extensively in Adelaide for
14 years and is the director of the Yoga Spirit Studios which she opened
as Torrensville Yoga Studio in 2002.
Her teaching style has evolved out of her 18 year journey through different approaches and styles of yoga including certification in the Iyengar method, extensive study with Shandor Remetes Shadow Style Yoga and has completed advanced yogic studies with Donna Farhi. More recently Rebecca has gained valuable insights into understanding the human condition and the many paths toward liberation through her involvement in dance and her studies of the human psyche with the Enneagram Institute of the U.S.
Rebecca teaches from a depth of knowledge, love and integrity that reflects her own committed search to feel at peace in her heart and mind.
She is passionate about teaching yoga authentically - as a pathway home to the essence of who we really are.
Rebecca co ordinates and teaches in the 15 month Yoga Teacher Training Course she runs at the studio and regularly leads workshops and residential retreat programs in South Australia.
Rebecca holds membership with the Yoga Teachers Association of Australia ,the South Australian Yoga Teachers Institute and The Australian Natural Therapists Association
Sandra
Bryant
Sandra has been practicing yoga for over 8 years and
teaches a number of beginners courses, ongoing beginners classes and organic
flow classes at the studio. Sandra has done formal certificate studies with
the I.Y.A.A and did apprentiship training at the Yoga Spirit Studios
under the guidance of principal teacher Rebecca Richards. She has studied
advanced teacher training with international presenter Donna Farhi and is
a member of the Yoga Teachers Association of S.A. Sandra has a kind and gentle
nature and a particular interest in making yoga accessible to a broad range
of people's needs. Her classes are diligently planned and delivered with love
and care. Sandra specializes in creative relaxations which for many of her
students are the favorite part of class.
Bronwyn
Coles
Bronwyn has been teaching yoga and working
in the healing therapies for a number of years. She has a particular interest
in the special needs of women particular in the child rearing years. This
has risen out of her own immediate experience with the joys and periles of
birthing and bringing up three children of her own.Bronwyn teaches the prenatal
classes at the studio and special interest courses for women. Her classes
are healing, empowering and intuitive.
David Braithwaite
David has been practicing yoga for over 6 years and has completed his Certificate of Hatha Yoga Teacher Training at Yoga Spirit Studios. He is a member of the Yoga Teachers Association of Australia. David's Yoga practice has been a powerful tool for his personal and spiritual transformation. Yoga has helped him to face the challenges that life presents by exploring his body and mind, and his practice has become a foundation for his happiness. Through his teaching he hopes to help others discover the benefits of Yoga in a safe and welcoming environment.
Cherise Vallet
Cherise originally came to Australia for a '2 year work/travel visit' from Canada in 1989. Advenutures unfolded, and in the process, Australia has become her home. One of Cherise's greatest adventures has been the discovery of yoga, which she first began to explore on her own. She then enrolled in an introductory course at Yoga Spirit Studios (then Torrensville Yoga Studio) and became completely hooked by the experience. This led her to complete her Certificate of Hatha Yoga Teacher Training at YogaSpirit Studios in 2004. Since graduating with her teaching certificate Cherise has been a regular teacher at this studio. Cherise is inspired by the subtle yet profound sense of well being that has come through a regular practice of yoga, and seeks to pass this experience on to her students.
Elena Fogliano - Worley
Elena has been practicing yoga for 15 years and completed her yoga teaching studies at Yoga Spirit Studios in 2004. Elena has a busy life that she shares with her large family and yoga has remained a thread of support through her life journey.The joy and delight Elena feels at being able to share the wonderful gifts of yoga with others is palpable to those who take her classes.
Vanessa Twivickas
Vanessa began her yoga journey more than 8 years ago and completed her Certificate of Hatha Yoga Teacher Training at Yoga Spirit Studios in 2008. Vanessa values the insights yoga has brought into her life, of the synergy between our emotional, physical and spiritual existence and this flows into her teaching style. Through direct experience of practicing yoga through both pregnancies, Vanessa has also developed an interest in the pre-natal and post-natal applications of yoga and teaches Prenatal Yoga at the studio on Wednesdays. She holds membership with the Yoga Teachers Association of Australia and the South Australian Institute of Yoga Teachers.
Karen Forrest
Karen has been practicing yoga for over 8 years and completed her Certificate of Hatha Yoga Teaching Training at Yoga Spirit Studios. During her teacher training she found herself in the midst of menopause and can relate to the negative physical and emotional effects that menopause may bring. Now happily post menopausal and having found that her yoga practice supported her through this stage of life, she enjoys sharing her experience and love of yoga with others and helping them to discover the joy of yoga. Karen is a member of the Yoga Teachers Association of Australia.
Judy Keen
Judy's yoga journey began more than 10 years ago in Sydney where she became engaged in yoga because of the physical, emotional and spiritual challenges that it brings into her life. Judy particularly felt the benefits of youga during her pregnancies and the practice also helped her recover from old sports injuries. Judy has graduated from the Yoga Spirit Studios Teacher Training course and is a member of the YTTA.
Sarah Spurge
Sarah has been practicing yoga for over 6 years and has completed her Certificate of Hatha Yoga Teacher Training at Yoga Spirit Studios. Sarah is a member of the Yoga Teachers Association of Australia. Sarah has a particular interest in the ethical precepts (yama and niyamas) set forth in Patanjali's Yoga Sutras as a guide for living. While Sarah was initially drawn to yoga by the physical and emotional benefits it offered, it is the spiritual and energetic transformation that has kept Sarah firmly committed to her practice. With Sarah’s love and dedication to her practice it has quickly become the foundation from which she lives her life and searches for her truth. Sarah has been deeply touched and inspired by a number of teachers and fellow students on her yogic journey and hopes to be able to give back and share the joy of yoga with her students. Sarah brings a holistic approach to her teaching offering a safe and supportive environment in which students can learn and explore the practice of yoga.
