Group yoga class in relaxation iRest® Yoga Nidra is a deeply healing practice. Unlike many therapies to assist with the effects of trauma, iRest® supports you by helping you to discover a deep sense of well being that you then are able to access as you process the deeply held wounds created by the experience of traumatic events.
iRest® Yoga Nidra, establishes a safe container before you begin a process of self inquiry that you remain totally in control of. iRest® helps you to integrate the experiences and memories, and to restore your deepest sense of wholeness.
Evidence based research has shown that iRest is effective in assisting people heal from trauma. (see www.irest.us/research). So much so that the US Department of Defense and the US Department of Veterans Affairs have well established programs to offer iRest as an adjunctive therapy for warriors presenting with PTSD.
This two hour session is designed to introduce the process of iRest® Yoga Nidra to people with the experience of trauma, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Anxiety and depression especially when linked to past traumatic events. The following is some participant feedback from an early research study at Walter Reed Army Hospital with military participants with PTSD.

Tina Shettigara is an IRI Certified iRest Yoga Nidra Teacher®, a Level 2 Yoga Australia Registered Yoga Teacher and Level 2 Hanna Somatics Educator and Director of Yoga Spirit Studios. Having developed a fascination for all things Indian early in life, the pathway into yoga was a natural progression. Tina also immersed in Indian philosophy, religion and culture. When she discovered iRest® many seemingly disparate teachings were brought together for her. It is now her joy, heartfelt mission and commitment to share iiRest® with the community.
This session is a three hour introduction toiRest® Yoga Nidra suitable for people with no experience of yoga, yoga nidra and/or meditation. There will be two Yoga Nidra sessions, some discussion and orientation to the practice. Following this introduction you may want to join one of Tina's 6 week courses "The Essence of iRest® Yoga Nidra: the meditative heart of yoga" or to book a private session. Follow up classes may also be organised especially for people recovering from trauma if there is interest.
